Sid, Tanisha, and baby Jiya

Happy fall everyone!  Today I bring you a brand new post about one of my favorite families!  One of the things I cherish most about my job is when clients put their trust in me, and ask me to document important milestones in their life.  I get to sometimes document different stages and moments in their life, and it’s always amazing to see how their lives evolves through time.  I honestly feel very honored and privileged that they put their trust in me to document these precious moments, and I couldn’t be happier to document the process, and build amazing friendships and relations along the way.  Case and point is Sid and Tanisha.  I’ve known Sid since the college days, and have actually used him as a test subject for my very first photoshoots when I started my career back in the day.  I got to meet his girlfriend Tanisha some years later, and watched as it blossomed into a beautiful relationship.  When they got engaged, Sid hit me up for some photos, and I got to photograph their engagement session a few years back.  Last year when I found out they were expecting, they again wanted to document that moment in life, so I was very happy to be able to provide them with some maternity photos.  Fast forward a year, and now they finally had a new addition to their life, baby Jiya.  I got the call again to get some photos of the newest member of the family, and I was super happy to finally meet the little munchkin.  Jiya is so adorable, it’s almost not fair to the other babies.  I mean how can you not want to pinch those cheeks!  It took awhile for her to get used to uncle Sahid, but once we got into the rhythm of things, we got some really fun shots!

I feel honored to document the life of such great friends, and hopefully I’ll get to capture some more precious life moments with them in the future!  Without further delay, I present you the family session of Sid, Tanisha, and baby Jiya 🙂

Rahman Family – Duke Family Photo session

Today’s post is a very special post.  Why is it so special you ask?  Well, that’s because this post features two of my favorite people, who also happens to be my very first wedding clients!!  Back in 2007 when I was just starting out, I photographed Feraz and Asra’s wedding as my very first gig!  I had never photographed a wedding at that point, and these two were brave enough to give me a shot at covering their wedding.  For that, I am very thankful, because it gave me the confidence to continue my passion, and hone my skills as a professional photographer for the past decade.  Before the wedding, we decided to do some formal photos at Duke University in Durham NC.  Feraz is a die hard Duke fan, and also a Duke Alumni, so the place holds a very significant meaning for him.  Fast forward 10 years, and we all just luckily happen to be in North Carolina at the same time, and it also happens to be their 10 year anniversary.  Now the lovely couple has 3 beautiful kids, and they wanted to do a family session back at Duke.  Now Asra really wanted to do the photoshoot within the small window that we had, but both of our schedules were quite hectic, and the weather that day was definitely not on our side.  It’s pretty rare that all of us just happen to be in NC at the same time, so I really wanted to try to make this happen.  I threw a hail mary, we rushed over to Duke in the rain with less than an hour of light left, and we did a super quick family photo session at the university.  Despite the speedy session, everyone was in a great mood, and the kids behaved very well, so we were able to pull of a pretty awesome family session.  Feraz managed to even get us all inside of a basketball court at Cameron Stadium during the sweet 16, so we got some really cute basketball themed shots to finish off the night.  It’s pretty amazing that I get to not only witness and document love and coming together of two people, but also get to see the progression of their family.  Without further ado, I present you the Rahman family session at Duke.

Turning 1

Birthday parties are always fun, especially when you turn 1. This was my first birthday session, and it was for a young boy named Amir. Amir is the nephew of Hannah, who’s engagement party will be posted in a few weeks. I love meeting new families and capturing all the interactions and special moments between them. Amir’s birthday party was no exception. He’s a very active child, and keeping up with him was challenging, but fun at the same time. I gave the family a nice mini-portrait session, and captured the rest of the birthday party.

It’s always nice to photograph birthday cakes, and eat it too 🙂
