Turning 1

Birthday parties are always fun, especially when you turn 1. This was my first birthday session, and it was for a young boy named Amir. Amir is the nephew of Hannah, who’s engagement party will be posted in a few weeks. I love meeting new families and capturing all the interactions and special moments between them. Amir’s birthday party was no exception. He’s a very active child, and keeping up with him was challenging, but fun at the same time. I gave the family a nice mini-portrait session, and captured the rest of the birthday party.

It’s always nice to photograph birthday cakes, and eat it too 🙂

Sid & Deepti Couples Session

I’ve met both Sid and Deepti while I was in school at ECU and NC State.  Both of them are totally awesome, have great personalities, and just plain fun to hang around.  I’m not just saying all this to be nice, they really are very chill to be around.  When I found out they were dating, it just somehow made perfect sense to me.  Their personalities and coolness makes them perfectly compatible, almost like peanut butter and jelly 🙂  I just had to take advantage of the opportunity, and get them a photo session.  I told them that we want to demonstrate pure love, and closeness between the two.  Whenever we would setup for a shot though, they would either bust out laughing, or just get side tracked.  Either way, it was great fun, and we got some pretty cool images.

* I apologize ahead of time for all the black & white / sepia images.  This was during my “minimal color” phase, and I was experimenting with different b&w conversion techniques.

Julio & Maria Highlights

I had a lot of fun photographing the wedding of Julio & Maria last summer.  It was a pretty good drive to get to the venue where their wedding was being held, but I got their without any problems.  When I pulled into the town, I was a bit puzzled since most of the surrounding were a bit rural, with lots of land and farms.  When I finally arrived at the venue (Landmark Gardens), I was stunned.  There was a spectacular castle-like building in the middle of such a rural town.  What was even more surprising was how beautiful that place actually was, inside and out.

The wedding itself was quite fun.  Like most weddings I’ve covered, the guys were all just relaxing, and enjoying their time.  They were actually just lounging around and watching a movie in the cigar room… as if it was just another day!  On the other side, Maria was a bit nervous, and kept wondering how the day would go.  The girls side was busy, with lots of things happening at once.  So far, this is the case with every wedding I’ve covered.  While I covered the brides side, my partner at the time covered the groom.  The ceremony was held outdoors in a beautiful garden.  It was a joy to photograph, and you can almost see the pure joy and happiness in both of their faces during the ceremony.  So, without further delay, I present you the images:

Congratulations Julio and Maria. It was a pleasure working with you both!
