Not too long ago I got a call from Carla about a birthday party for her daughter Sara. Now normally I don’t shoot a lot of birthday parties, but this was Sara’s first one, so it’s very special to Carla. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised at how the birthday party had a super cool bumblebee theme. Everywhere you looked, there was some form of a bees. It was very cute. I got some nice shots of Sara, the family, the decor, the cake, and had a chance to eat some of the delicious food. Without further ado, I present you the pics:
A few weeks back, I had an opportunity to shoot something that I have never shot before in my photography career… a sweet 16 birthday party. Now I know what you might be thinking, “can a wedding photographer really shoot something like a birthday party?” The answer to that is ABSOLUTELY. A party, whether it is a birthday, a corporate event, or a fundraiser, are all dynamic events… much like a wedding. With dynamic events, there are always great opportunities to get some great images, as well as many challenges and obstacles to face. The challenge I had at this particular party was working in a very tight environment, and having massive color casts because of the freshly painted reflective walls at the restaurant where the party took place. However, having people who like to have fun and making the event exciting, makes shooting really enjoyable. Faryal (the birthday girl) and her friends were all about having fun and making the most of the party, so I knew it would lead to some fantastic images. There was a birthday, there was dinner, there was cake, there was dancing, and then the lights dimmed all the way down to turn into a real party hall. See all the fun down below:
