Hanna & Zeyad – Engagement Ceremony

Engagements are always a nice thing.  They are even better if it’s someone you are friends with or have known for a while.  Such was the case with Hanna.  I met Hanna back in Undergrad, and although I didn’t see her much around school, or hang out with her much… we were still good friends through different social clubs.  Incase any of you really keep up with my blog (I doubt there’s anyone here that seriously does), I covered Hana’s nephew Amir in this post, so Hanna is Aya’s younger sister.  Hanna is one of THE nicest person you will ever meet, and she is always very cheerful (and I’m not just saying that because this is on my blog).  She’s one of those people that is so nice, that you can’t really imagine them being angry or upset about anything… even if you try.  When I found out she was engaged, and wanted me to cover the celebration, I was very excited.  Since I’ve already somewhat met and known the family, it felt very comfortable to work with them again.  This was the Khatooba ceremony, otherwise known as Kaital Kitab… which is pretty much the celebration of the engagement.    The program is pretty straight forward like any other engagement celebration.  However, in Egyptian culture, the couple will also drink a delicious juice cocktail known as Sharbat, and have a massive dancing celebration with family and all the close friends.  It’s a very lively event, and you would almost think that the celebration is the actual wedding itself.  So without babbling any further, I present the images.  Just a note, these pictures are a bit old,  so just keep in mind that these are before I had all my fancy pant equipments that I currently own.
