Thank You Picnic

Hello everyone. Today, I bring you a very special blog post, one that’s very dear to me. A little while ago, I was going over some of my old photographs of clients that are backed up on my harddrives, and I came across a lot of previous weddings of some of my good friends. Looking over all the past weddings, I started to feel quite nostalgic, and realized how important these people were to me. These individuals not only trusted in me with one of the most important moments of their life, but they invested in me early on, and saw potential in what I wanted to do. I’ve not only had the privilege of shooting their wedding/engagements, but maintaining a friendship that will last a lifetime. Without their trust and support, my business would not be where it is today, and I am beyond grateful for allowing me to be part of their lives.

So, I wanted to do something nice for my favorite early clients, just as a way to thank them. Now most other photographers might send their clients a thank you card or send a printed 4×6 print of their photo. Really? A 4×6 photo? To me, that’s not really special or meaningful. So I thought to myself, what would I be able to do for these individuals, that they themselves probably wouldn’t do, and something that would be a bit more memorable and fun for them? Well, since it was Spring time, and the weather was so nice, I decided that I should throw these wonderful people a picnic for everyone… where we could all gather, eat, and have fun. So, that’s what I did, and I took some photos along the way. If this idea gets copied by other photographers, well… you know where you saw it first 😉 All in all, we had a great time catching up with each other. This gathering was great because everyone grew up in the same community, and were all friends already. It was great to spend some time with each couple again, and see the dynamic of their relationship. Without a doubt, each of them have found their other half, and formed a beautiful and meaningful relationship that will last a lifetime. I genuinely cherish these people. They are not only some of my best clients, but they are also some of my closest friends. Thank you guys again for investing in me, but more importantly, thank you all again for believing in me.

Super cheesy, I know, but I had to be honest. Now onto the photos.

Going through my Hipster phase, don’t judge.

Sal & Shati – Couples Session + Wedding

This wedding is an oldie, but I thought I share it with you nevertheless.  Sal is a friend of Sajid (who’s wedding will also be posted in the very near future), and contacted me regarding his wedding in NY.  He was going to wed his long time sweetheart Shati in the traditional Bangladeshi style, and I was happy to help them get some photographs to document the day.  After the wedding, we decided to do a couples session.  This was around the fall season, so we thought it would be nice to do the couples session outdoors at central park.  However, the weather was absolutely terrible, so we quickly moved into the MET and improvised a few shots there.  Both Sal and Shati are a great couple, and I had a lot of fun working with them. Onward to the pictures:

Yes, that’s a pair of sharp scissors next to his face!

I love this shot because everyone knows I’m taking this picture, yet not a single person is looking towards me

Ayesha & Mansoor – Couples Session

What up my peeps?  There will be some big changes and news coming to the site soon, so stay tuned.  For the time being though, I thought I share a few images of Ayesha and Mansoor with you all.  I had the pleasure of meeting Ayesha and Mansoor back in the old college days, when we were all young, and the world was less of a crazy place.  Yes, I am sitting in a rocking chair right now reminiscing about the good ‘ol college days… because they were very good days indeed.  Though my brother knew Mansoor better than me, I did know Ayesha for a few years.  What can be said about Ayesha?  Well, not only is she very genuine, intelligent, caring, and a giving person…. but she has one of the best laughs I’ve seen on anyone.  If you don’t believe me, just look at the pictures below.  She even laughed at my jokes… so you know I gotta give props to any bride that finds me funny.  Now naturally, most brides get nervous or panic during their wedding day.  It’s understandable, there’s so much going on, it’s hard not to.  However, Ayesha was cool and calm through the whole process, which was very impressive.  As organized as Ayesha is, it’s hard to imagine her NOT be prepared for such an event.  She rocked out the mehndi, the shadi, the walima, and even this nice little couples session.

All in all, I had loads of fun shooting her wedding in Raleigh, as well as the Walima in Augusta GA.  I’m dedicating two posts for them.  This one is their couples session, which was actually shot a year later from the wedding.  Right below it, you will find the second post with the mehndi, wedding, and the walima pictures from last year.

Congrats again Mansoor and Ayesha.  Oh and don’t forget, I can take some pretty nice baby pictures too, so keep me in mind for the near future 😀
