Mandeep & Kriti E-Session

I love working with couples who are fun, nice, and thoughtful to the person they are working with (in this case, me). Lucky for me, I had the pleasure of working with Mandeep and Kriti… who not only exhibit all of these great qualities, but surpass them even more. Without a doubt, these two have been one of the most awesomest (is that even a word) couples I’ve worked with thus far, and that’s really saying a lot because I work with some truly awesome couples. They are both smart, good looking, extremely easy going, and up for just about anything for the pictures. When they are together, it’s easy to see why they belong together. They manage to always crack each other up, and always enjoy each others company. There was so much laughing at this shoot, that I couldn’t get a bad shot even if I tried. We shot this E-session on a pretty gloomy day, when the weather was pretty lousy, and not exactly the best for pictures. It even rained on us half way though. However, the pictures turned out super awesome, and we all had so much fun together. Not only did we do an outdoor session, but I thought it would be nice to get some shots in their fav. coffee shop, since they both LOVE coffee.

Along with some images, I’m going to introduce my first official slideshow on the blog. I was quite pleased with it, so please let me know if it works or how you like it 🙂

A really cool thing I got to do with this couple, which was a first for me, was actually be a witness to the actual legal wedding procedure. After our shoot, both Mandeep and Kriti surprised me by asking me to come to the magistrates office, and see the procedure. I was in no rush, so I tagged along. Not only did I get to see the procedure, but I actually got to sign the marriage certificate as the second witness! How cool is that? To most people, that may not mean anything. However, to me, this was a great surprise, and a great honor. I not only covered this couple’s E-session and wedding, but I’m actually part of their wedding process! I thought it would be nice to give some extra pics of the procedure, so I took some more. What they didn’t know, I also managed to get part of the actual marriage on video using the 5D mark II.  I just wish I hadn’t placed the camera on top of a printer. After it was all done, we went outside, celebrated by getting some sweets, and called it a day 🙂 Check out the video and the pictures below.

Unaabi Grille

The summer wedding season is finally over, and now I finally have time to breathe.  Without a doubt, this summer has been the busiest summer that I’ve ever dealt with so far in my life.  With multiple weddings, portraits, family shoots, meetings, photo editing, travel, family visits, etc…, I’ve had very little time to relax, let alone do anything for myself.  I also did not get a chance to even check my own blog, let alone update it.  So without further delay, I bring you an update to the blog.  There will be plenty of more updates coming soon and more frequently, so be sure to check back or rss the blog.

After working non stop on weddings for 3 months straight, I decided to just take a few days off of wedding work.  During this time, I was hired by Unaabi Grille, a local restaurant in Cary to get them some photos of their menu and venue.  Now I must admit, I am not a commercial food photographer.  Matter of fact, this was only my 3rd food related photoshoot I’ve done, and I do not have a food studio and all the gizmos & gadgets you need for the true pro food shots.  However, I still enjoyed the challenge, and was quite pleased with the outcome of the images from the restaurant.  I was even more pleased considering the environmental limitations, light limitations, and time frame I had.  If any of you readers are photographers as well, I suggest you try to take a descent food photograph at least once in your life.   It will give you a whole new perspective, and truly let you understand how much work has to go into these.  It’s amazing how often we just glimpse through a cookbook, an ad, or a commercial, and  notice how wonderful images look, without really understanding how it came to be.  However, the amount of work that has to go into getting those excellent results, can take hours or even days, with multitude of lights, camera, lenses, and assistants.  All I know is, I find weddings… an event that only happens once in a couples life, and something you have to capture it perfectly the first time around with no re-takes… easier than food photography 🙂  Hope you enjoy the images.

Hemali & Yagnesh E-session

Hemali and I met a few years back at ECU while I was there for undergrad. Though I didn’t know her that well, my roommate Luke and my friend Puja were pretty good friends with her. I was informed that she was engaged, and my friends being as awesome as they are… they recommended no one other than me for the photography. This is why my friends are the best! After our initial meeting, we setup a date for the E-session, and made some magic happen. Yagnesh is in medical school, so his schedule was a bit hard to match with both of ours. However, one day finally worked for all of us, and that was the day the session would be. There was a chance of a severe thunderstorm that day, but we still pushed through and got some killer pictures. I have never gotten so much compliments on E-session images at a wedding than I did for Hemali at her wedding (which will be posted sometime soon). I was happy, Hemali and Yagnesh were happy, her friends and family were happy… so it was a win win for all of us 🙂
