Rahman Family – Duke Family Photo session

Today’s post is a very special post.  Why is it so special you ask?  Well, that’s because this post features two of my favorite people, who also happens to be my very first wedding clients!!  Back in 2007 when I was just starting out, I photographed Feraz and Asra’s wedding as my very first gig!  I had never photographed a wedding at that point, and these two were brave enough to give me a shot at covering their wedding.  For that, I am very thankful, because it gave me the confidence to continue my passion, and hone my skills as a professional photographer for the past decade.  Before the wedding, we decided to do some formal photos at Duke University in Durham NC.  Feraz is a die hard Duke fan, and also a Duke Alumni, so the place holds a very significant meaning for him.  Fast forward 10 years, and we all just luckily happen to be in North Carolina at the same time, and it also happens to be their 10 year anniversary.  Now the lovely couple has 3 beautiful kids, and they wanted to do a family session back at Duke.  Now Asra really wanted to do the photoshoot within the small window that we had, but both of our schedules were quite hectic, and the weather that day was definitely not on our side.  It’s pretty rare that all of us just happen to be in NC at the same time, so I really wanted to try to make this happen.  I threw a hail mary, we rushed over to Duke in the rain with less than an hour of light left, and we did a super quick family photo session at the university.  Despite the speedy session, everyone was in a great mood, and the kids behaved very well, so we were able to pull of a pretty awesome family session.  Feraz managed to even get us all inside of a basketball court at Cameron Stadium during the sweet 16, so we got some really cute basketball themed shots to finish off the night.  It’s pretty amazing that I get to not only witness and document love and coming together of two people, but also get to see the progression of their family.  Without further ado, I present you the Rahman family session at Duke.

Hanif & Shirin – Persian Wedding

Today I bring you a very special blog post that features the wedding of my friends Hanif & Shirin.  About 3 years back, I made the official move to New York based off of the suggestion of my good friend Habib.  My brother told me that the one person I should most definitely meet is Habib’s cousin Hanif.  Sure enough, the more and more people I spoke to, they all had raving things to say about Hanif, and what an awesome person he was.  When I finally met him in person, I understood instantly why he had such an awesome reputation amongst the community.  Hanif is one of the most genuine and interesting human beings I’ve had the pleasure of meeting!  Hanif is intelligent, witty, very funny, talented in many things, a passionate community leader, one of THE nicest person I’ve ever met, and truly has a heart of gold.  If that wasn’t enough, although he is of Iranian descent, he can speak/read/write Bangla better than me and all of my siblings!  I’m about 95% sure that if my parents heard Hanif recite Bengali poetry, they will adopt him as our 4th sibling.  At that very first meeting, I also had the pleasure of meeting Hanif’s other half, Shirin “Bonu”.  Just like her counterpart, Shirin is also super nice, intelligent, compassionate, and super talented.  I’m not just saying she’s talented as in she’s talented, I’m saying she’s talented as in she’s an Emmy nominated producer!  Shirin and I connected instantly over our love of film and movies, and it’s a bond that’s only grown over the years.  Not only have we been great friends, but she also helped me land a part-time job at a local tv station, so we’re co-workers as well!  One thing was for certain when I met these two, and that was that they both really liked each other, and cared deeply for one and another.

Hanif & Shirin planned on having a small intimate wedding ceremony at their home, and then do a bigger celebration in their homeland of Iran.  I absolutely love the more intimate weddings since they are so personal and have such special moments throughout, so I was very down to help capture some of these moments.  This was an absolutely beautiful ceremony, with some really amazing people!  Hanif and Shirin’s family members were just as loving and caring as they are themselves, and even as a photographer, I felt like family being there.  It was a very sweet event, with lots of great people, food, and sweets!  Side note, Hanif’s mom makes one of the best baklava I’ve ever had!  The ceremony was beautiful and touching, the decor was charming and traditional to the persian heritage, the food was incredible… I mean I can talk about what an amazing everything was, but I rather let the photos do the talking for me!  Without further ado, check out the photos from Hanif & Shirin’s wedding below.

Yohann & Erin – New York Surprise Proposal

Happy New Years everyone!  Despite all the political craziness going on all over the world, I hope you all are having a wonderful and prosperous new year!  2017 will certainly be a very interesting year, and lots of new thing will be coming to Limon Photography, so be sure to subscribe to the Facebook page for all the latest updates.

Well, it’s February, which means love is in the air.  Surprise proposals are still very popular, and I’m finding myself doing more and more of these stealthy ninja style surprise proposals.  Today I bring you the proposal of Yohann & Erin at the mysterious Roosevelt Island in NY.  I met Yohann a few years back through my brother, and learned that A. he’s a very down to earth chill dude, and B. he’s pretty buff for an Indian guy.  Fast forward 2 years, and I got a call from Yohann asking me if I could photograph him proposing to his girlfriend.  What Yohann didn’t know is that hashtag #surpriseproposal has been trending for awhile now, so photographers are getting more and more request for them, and I was of course more than happy to help him capture the special moment.  We set the plan in motion, he went and scouted the perfect spot, and the rest was history.  Now my biggest concern when shooting these proposals is that I might accidently ruin the surprise since you know, my camera is pretty big and obvious.  It’s even harder to be hidden when there’s no cover or places to hide.  This one was probably the toughest one to not be detected, because there weren’t any trees or buildings to hide around, and other than one other tourist, I was the only other person at the park.  So, to try to play it off, I basically ran around like an idiot and tried taking pictures of seagulls.  In the end, everything went smoothly according to plan, and Yohann pulled off a beautiful proposal.  Erin was not only surprised, but couldn’t stop smiling the entire time out of excitement!  They couldn’t stop hugging and kissing each other, which was very sweet to witness.  As tense as it is for me to shoot surprise proposals, I always love it because I get to capture genuine excitement and thrill of a couple, and those emotions can’t ever be replicated!  I had a great time photographing Yohann & Erin.  These two seem just right for each other, and they’re a pretty good looking couple as well.  Don’t believe me?  Scroll below now to see all the cuteness!
